Angry Dan writes, draws, and animates poems, songs, and stories. His illustrated short form poetry, published on Instagram, is intended as a conduit to his longer work. His first long-form narrative poem, The Man Who Stood Still Forever, was described as '...ingenious' by The London Economic. He recently attracted the attention of Boy George and Graham Coxon with his dark parody of Louis Armstrong's What A Wonderful World, written for the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament.

Tell us a fun fact about you I'm colourblind, so I steal all of my colours from adverts.

How did you get into illustration? I couldn't get anyone to illustrate my poems, so I decided to draw them myself.

Who or what inspires you the most? I love Roald Dahl's books, Randy Newman's songs, and Woody Allen's films.

What does a typical day look like for you? Lots of cups of tea and playing piano, interspersed with occasional bouts of productivity.

What do you do when you have a creative block? If I'm not feeling something, I usually just do something else. I write, draw, and play music, so between all of that I can usually find something that feels fluid on any given day. My biggest problem isn't creative block, it's that I'm easily distracted.

Top three clients you've worked with? Momentum, The Green Party , and the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament.

What tools (digital or not!) do you use to create your work? I'd rather not say.

What's your favourite resource for inspiration? My childhood.

Do you have any tips for artists thinking of doing freelance? I wouldn't really describe what I do as freelance. I mean, of course it is sometimes, but the vast majority of the time I don't make my work for money. I just do it because it makes me a little bit happier.

What would your dream project be? I'm working on a book of illustrated limericks. If that happens, it'll be a dream come true.

How can fans keep up-to-date with your work? Instagram
