Eloise and Marianna are decorators, graphic designers and lettering artists. They are the founders of Blend creative studio in Rome. They have combined their artistic studies with a passion for Lettering and their work ranges from graphics advertising, publishing and interior design. They are known for their brightly coloured murals, with unique letters and shapes and for the inevitable coffee breaks.
When we go out to eat before ordering the dishes, we always gossip about the fonts of the menus and the interior design of the room and the waiters we hate because they have to pass several times to make us order.
We love to draw as a child. Over the years we have attended different artistic studies and then we met in a Graphics Academy. Here we started our creative project on letters.
We are lucky to live in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Exhibitions, events, cultural spaces and all the art of Rome are a constant inspiration for us.
A rich breakfast with a good coffee, a chat with friends and a visit to the To Do List. Mail, calls, Instagram, running in the metropolis, sketches for various clients. So our days are always really full.
The best thing to do is to break away from the blank paper, take a long walk, or watch a movie. Then you come back with more energy and new ideas.
A local street food, a bakery and a brewery.
The most precious tool is definitely pencil and paper. Then we digitise our illusrations to the PC. But we also use a lot of brushes and paints with which we have a lot of fun.
We keep up-to-date on international lettering artists. We also take inspiration from the books on typography and lettering, posters, signs and many letters that we discover during our travels and in our city.
Choose a good travel and business friend. Never give up, work a lot and have even more fun.
Paint the walls of all the cities of the world with our big letters.

I love drawing and art at a very young age. I didn’t go to art school but I always pick up a pencil to sketch on something. I work in graphic design and art direction so that skill comes in handy. I started to explore hand-lettering couple years ago. Now it becomes part of my day.
Nature. Traveling. Putting myself in other cultures.
With a coffee cup in hand, I’m usually at my desk by 9 am. I work from home so I can sit here all day long. Though I try to break up my day by walking the dog or getting up to grab snacks/water.
I try to get some inspirations from other artists on IG or by flipping through design magazines. Other times, I just walk away from it.

Currently I’m a full-time employee but I freelanced for years. Freelance doesn’t mean ‘free’ or low-cost service so know your worth and manage your time. Also, you only want to work with someone who wants to work with you. It’s ok to say no.
Seeing my work on print ads, packagings or billboards somewhere.

I´m addicted to asian food, chocolate, trench-coats, Frank Ccean, Sampha and James Blake, my sneakers, books, art, breakfast, grocery shopping and I‘m leaving a crumb trail!
I was always painting and drawing so it seemed like a logic career path to me.
Plants and flowers of course but traveling and my every day surroundings are always a great way to get inspired!
Starting with a great breakfast afterwards checking and answering emails, and working and preparing orders. Painting in the afternoon and working on Instagram in the evening.
Just stop forcing it and try to use the time to meet friends and have long walks!
Recently I did flowers for a big company which I really enjoyed creating. Winning a design contest to have a textile design with Urban Outfitters was amazing when I started out, or I also enjoyed creating an entire print collection for a local surfwear company!
