Chloe Hall has great love for the outdoors, she creates pretty patterned stationery which encourages people to enjoy nature, and hopefully brings a little of the outdoors in! Chloe describes her work as "loose line work, and watercolour/gouache paintings". She tends to nearly always use the first illustration created for final patterns rather than over developing ideas, which relates nicely to the unprocessed natural world.
I live on a boat!
I studied Graphic Design & Illustration at uni and just haven't stop drawing since! I always remember being creative from when I was little, it's always something I've loved doing.
Definitely nature, plants and being outside!
I work part time, so sometimes I'll work in the evenings. The work I do in the evenings depends on what commissions I have on and what's most urgent. On my days off when I focus on my illustration I start by answering emails, packing orders and going to the post office before getting on with either my own work or client work.
Go for a walk and have a break! I have to get outside at least once a day else I go a bit stir crazy!
Ohh Deer x Birchbox was a great collaboration! Olive & Oliver, a coffee shop in Hawaii asked me to create a pattern for a coffee cup, and I love seeing the photos of the cups on Instagram, Seedbom asked me to create a pattern for a new Seedbom they have recently released called the Wilderbom. I've loved working on the print with you guys as it's something a little different to what I normally do! The list could go on, I love having the opportunity to work with such a varied client base.
Watercolour, gouache paints, fine liners and then I take everything into Photoshop to clean up and finalise.
I love drawing plants from observation, so love taking trips to botanical gardens and anywhere where there's pretty plants!
Go for it! Spend some time researching your audience, manufacturers, possible clients, stockists and everything else that might become useful. I took a few months to do this before I really went for it and it really paid off.
That's hard! I'd love to expand my product range into homeware so maybe something down that route! 🙂
