I used to be a life model!
I have painted since I was young, and with the encouragement from my fabulous art teacher, Mr Ashdown, at school, I decided the art career was the only way forward! I did a degree in Illustration and have worked very hard over the years to do what I love.
As above, my school art teacher, but also the countryside, packaging and delicious food.
The freelance illustration is now a part-time job alongside my full-time job as a product designer and developer! But there’s lots of scope for the two to merge.
Go out and be inspired by the everyday; not just to a museum or gallery. And sketch yourself out of a funk!
Jamie Magazine, Slimming World Magazine and The Gannet were great.
A wide variety of sable paintbrushes, tube watercolours, 3 different ceramic palettes, heavyweight artist quality paper, ox gall and gum arabic in my painting water, a 2B Faber Castell pencil and a lightweight drawing board. Sometimes a bit of salt!
Instagram, Pinterest, other artists, my library-sized collection of books and the great outdoors.
Always get a p/t time job alongside it! It will give you contacts, social skills and many other items of knowledge that you don’t get when shut away by yourself.
A series of book covers or food packaging.

Recently, I became a mom to a handsome 11-months old Border Collie mix. He’s such a good boy.
I love drawing and art at a very young age. I didn’t go to art school but I always pick up a pencil to sketch on something. I work in graphic design and art direction so that skill comes in handy. I started to explore hand-lettering couple years ago. Now it becomes part of my day.
Nature. Traveling. Putting myself in other cultures.
With a coffee cup in hand, I’m usually at my desk by 9 am. I work from home so I can sit here all day long. Though I try to break up my day by walking the dog or getting up to grab snacks/water.
I try to get some inspirations from other artists on IG or by flipping through design magazines. Other times, I just walk away from it.
A software company, a drug management company and a company that makes chewing gums.
Paper and pencil, and my lovely iPad Pro.
Instagram, Pinterest, Communication Arts magazines, museums.
Currently I’m a full-time employee but I freelanced for years. Freelance doesn’t mean ‘free’ or low-cost service so know your worth and manage your time. Also, you only want to work with someone who wants to work with you. It’s ok to say no.
Seeing my work on print ads, packagings or billboards somewhere.

I´m addicted to asian food, chocolate, trench-coats, Frank Ccean, Sampha and James Blake, my sneakers, books, art, breakfast, grocery shopping and I‘m leaving a crumb trail!
I was always painting and drawing so it seemed like a logic career path to me.
Plants and flowers of course but traveling and my every day surroundings are always a great way to get inspired!
Starting with a great breakfast afterwards checking and answering emails, and working and preparing orders. Painting in the afternoon and working on Instagram in the evening.
Just stop forcing it and try to use the time to meet friends and have long walks!
Recently I did flowers for a big company which I really enjoyed creating. Winning a design contest to have a textile design with Urban Outfitters was amazing when I started out, or I also enjoyed creating an entire print collection for a local surfwear company!
Procreate and Photoshop.
Pinterest or I also love to check out old books on fleamarkets!
Get yourself out there and start networking!
Designing for big fashion houses like Gucci or Chloe or just have my stuff on big billboards in NYC would be awesome! Having my own home decor collection with ikea would also be perfect!
