Harry Woodgate is an illustrator from St Albans. His work combines collage and print processes with digital imagery. He's inspired by various themes including mental health, politics, LGBT+ issues and our relationship with the natural world. When not illustrating he's usually making music, petting his cat or drinking unhealthy amounts of hot chocolate. Usually all three at once.

Tell us a fun fact about you. Once on holiday in Greece I awoke in the middle of the night to find a huge praying mantis sat on top of my mouth. I've hated the things ever since.

Top three clients you've worked with? I'm currently working with a brilliant author on my first children's book, which is really exciting! I don't know that I could pick out a top three though, I'd feel too guilty!

How did you get into illustration? Drawing has been my biggest love since before I even started nursery, and at age four I decided I wanted to be an author and illustrator. I toyed with a few more academic careers but it was sort of like a rubber band always pulling me back.

What tools (digital or not!) do you use to create your work? Photoshop and a Wacom tablet are my bread and butter. Besides that I just use whatever pens and paints and other stuff I can find lying around at the time.

Who or what inspires you the most? My friends, family, people who are pushing forward in the face of adversity or amplifying the voices of people who too often don't get heard.

What's your favourite website for inspiration? Twitter, probably. Lots of random thoughts, musings and opinions.

What would your dream project be? Anything where I could make a tangible difference to society through illustration. I don't know what form that will take yet, but I suppose it could be anything.

How can fans keep up-to-date with your work? Instagram and Facebook.
