Jamie Kirk is an illustrator and artist based in the UK. His playful style thrives in various worlds and media - merging illustration, hand-lettering, offbeat elements and bold colours. If not working in his studio, he can be found at the cinema or at the beach!

Tell us a fun fact about you I like trying to fit as many toppings as possible onto a pizza.

How did you get into illustration? I drew cartoons as a kid but was always told it could only ever be a hobby, never considering it could be a profession, until I stumbled back into it during University!

Who or what inspires you the most? Experiences.

What does a typical day look like for you? I’m an early riser, so I head to the beach for a run then make myself an omelette before heading into my studio. After a day full of creative stuff, I’ll try read a book before seeing what’s new on Netflix instead!

What do you do when you have a creative block? When my brain goes into ‘no idea’ mode, I do something that isn’t work-related. Watch a film, visit a friend, grab some shopping - anything just to switch my focus.

Top three clients you've worked with? Krispy Kreme, Hasbro and Newspaper Club.

What tools (digital or not!) do you use to create your work? This changes depending on the project. I love working both digitally and traditionally; pencil, paint and ink, whilst I also enjoy working directly on the iPad!

What's your favourite resource for inspiration? Places and people.

Do you have any tips for artists thinking of doing freelance? Go with your gut and ‘no matter what anybody tells you, words and ideas can change the world'.

What would your dream project be? To see my work on a large scale - I'd love to create an immersive, interactive experience where people can truly escape into my world of characters, colour and lettering, using both physical and digital elements!

How can fans keep up-to-date with your work? Instagram
