Lyn, also known as Pij to some, was born and raised in Malaysia where it's summer all year long. Lyn is an illustrator/designer, working with several businesses in different industries. When not at work, she is usually performing gigs with her band, spending time with her pets, and drawing whatever comes to mind.

Tell us a fun fact about you I drink more tea than water.

How did you get into illustration? I used to daydream way too often in school and I drew a lot as a kid (on anything and everything). Being able to illustrate as my career now is an absolute dream come true.

Who or what inspires you the most? Growing up, my creativity was never seen as insignificant or unimportant to my parents. My dad, who is an architect himself, would actually be disappointed if I didn't do anything design related!

What does a typical day look like for you? I struggle to wake up early but once i’m up, I get client work done, work on my own illustrations till late (I would go crazy if an idea gets stuck in my brain for too long), sleep, repeat.

What do you do when you have a creative block? I walk away from my desk and do something else to clear my mind. It is not a good idea to force yourself to continue thinking.

Top three clients you've worked with? 1. Packaging & product design - cosmetics
2. Mural - restaurant & bar
3. Logo - aviation firm

Keeping their names discreet to avoid favouritism!

What tools (digital or not!) do you use to create your work? I do my personal illustrations on Procreate due to it's mobility and for work I use Photoshop with a Wacom tablet.

What's your favourite resource for inspiration? Design and art from different cultural backgrounds all over the world.

Do you have any tips for artists thinking of doing freelance? Always make an awesome portfolio. Be your own client and create for yourself if you think you lack content.

What would your dream project be? Strangely unrelated, but I've always wanted to make and sell a batch of pottery.

How can fans keep up-to-date with your work? Instagram
